WordPress CMS + Booking Integration

A site built to turn local trust into booked appointments.

Joe Wyatt is a certified sports massage therapist based in Portsmouth β€” skilled, personable, and backed by a growing base of 5-star Google reviews. What he didn’t have was a website that worked as hard as he does. We built one from the ground up: designed to rank locally, communicate professionalism instantly, and turn first-time visitors into confirmed bookings.

The Problem

A skilled therapist with a website that wasn’t booking clients.

Joe Wyatt had real credibility β€” a certified therapist, a loyal client base, and dozens of glowing Google reviews from athletes, office workers, and active individuals across Portsmouth. But his online presence wasn’t converting that trust into appointments.

  • No clear local SEO presence for Portsmouth massage searches
  • Services listed without clear outcomes or audience context
  • No visible booking path β€” potential clients had no easy next step
  • Design didn’t communicate the professionalism clients experience in person
β€” Friction Points Identified
01
No frictionless booking journey
Visitors arriving from Google had no clear, immediate path to book an appointment. The call-to-action was buried, and the booking process required too many steps β€” losing potential clients at the most critical moment.
02
Services weren’t speaking to the right people
Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Therapy serve very different audiences β€” athletes managing recovery and office workers dealing with tension and stress. The existing site used the same generic copy for both, giving neither group a reason to feel the service was built for them.
03
Google reviews weren’t being leveraged
Joe had accumulated 49 five-star Google reviews β€” an exceptional trust asset for a local service business. None of that social proof was meaningfully integrated into the site where it could influence a first-time visitor’s decision to book.
04
Local SEO was an afterthought
A sports massage therapist in Portsmouth lives and dies by local search. The previous site had no structured local SEO foundation β€” no schema markup, no location-specific page hierarchy, and no optimised metadata β€” leaving Joe invisible to the searches that matter most.
Our Strategy

Build trust fast. Remove every barrier to booking.

Before designing a single screen, we identified what actually drives someone to book a massage therapist online: immediate professional credibility, a clear understanding of what the treatment does for them specifically, and a booking path with zero friction. Joe had all the ingredients β€” the site just needed to deliver them in the right order.

We structured the entire site around two core journeys: the athlete or active individual looking for sports massage and recovery support, and the office worker or stress sufferer seeking deep tissue relief. Both audiences are served by Joe, but they needed to feel that immediately β€” not work to figure it out.

The strategy also centred on making Joe himself the differentiator. In a local service market, personality and trust are the deciding factors. We brought the “Meet Joe” experience to the forefront β€” his approach, his philosophy, his process β€” so that by the time someone reaches the booking button, they already feel like they know him.

Local SEO was treated as a structural priority, not an afterthought. Every page was built with Portsmouth-specific search intent in mind, with schema, metadata, and content hierarchy all aligned to capture the searches that actually bring paying clients through the door.

Pillar 01

Booking-First Architecture

Every page on the site was designed with a single goal: a confirmed appointment. Prominent, persistent booking CTAs tied to Setmore, a clear pricing structure, session length options (30, 60, and 90 minutes), and a step-by-step “How It Works” flow all work together to eliminate hesitation and make booking the obvious next step.

Pillar 02

Joe as the Brand

In local therapy, the therapist is the product. We rebuilt the “Meet Joe” section as a primary conversion asset β€” his certifications, his philosophy, his mission to help people live pain-free and active lives. Paired with 49 Google reviews integrated directly into the site, Joe’s credibility is now visible where it matters most: before the first visit.

Pillar 03

Local SEO as the Foundation

Built Portsmouth-specific search visibility into every layer of the site β€” from page structure and schema markup to location-rich metadata and service-specific content. Sports massage Portsmouth, deep tissue massage Portsmouth, dry needling β€” all mapped to search intent and structured to rank.

Execution

Eight weeks. Launch-ready.

We ran a focused, efficient process from brief to booking-ready launch. For a solo practitioner, speed and simplicity matter as much as quality β€” so we kept the process lean, collaborative, and focused entirely on what would put paying clients in the chair.

Before & After

What actually changed.

Before
  • Homepage led with generic service copy β€” no immediate hook for either athletes or stress-relief clients
  • Booking button hard to find; no persistent CTA across pages β€” visitors had to hunt for the next step
  • Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage described with identical generic language β€” no audience differentiation
  • 49 five-star Google reviews existed but were not integrated into the site where they could influence purchasing decisions
  • Joe’s personal story, approach, and qualifications buried in a secondary page with minimal visual weight
  • No local SEO structure β€” missing schema markup, location metadata, and Portsmouth-specific keyword targeting
  • Pricing plans present but not framed as a decision-making tool β€” no context for which session length suits which need
  • Design felt basic and template-like β€” communicating neither the warmth clients experience nor the clinical skill Joe brings
After
  • Hero section leads with a clear, audience-specific value proposition β€” performance recovery for athletes, tension relief for desk workers β€” with an immediate booking CTA
  • Persistent “Make Appointment” button present on every page, linked directly to Setmore for real-time availability
  • Separate, outcome-led descriptions for each therapy β€” Sports Massage framed around performance and recovery, Deep Tissue around tension, stress, and internal system function
  • Google Reviews widget integrated into the homepage β€” 49 five-star reviews visible exactly where they influence first-time visitors most
  • Meet Joe section redesigned as a primary conversion asset β€” his mission, philosophy, certification, and approach surfaced prominently in the main navigation and on the homepage
  • Full local SEO foundation β€” LocalBusiness schema, Portsmouth-targeted metadata, service-specific keyword hierarchy, and Google Business Profile alignment
  • Pricing cards reframed around client needs β€” 30-minute for targeted relief, 60-minute for comprehensive recovery, 90-minute for chronic pain and deep work β€” each with a direct booking CTA
  • Warm, professional visual identity with botanical details and clinical-clean layout that communicates both approachability and expertise

“I knew my clients were happy β€” I could see it in the reviews. I just needed a website that gave new people the same confidence before they ever walked through the door. Now it does exactly that.”
